Baby Food Jars to Spice Containers

I made spice jars from baby food containers before (see my tutorial). They were a gift for my dad, but this time I'm getting my own spice cupboard organized!
Here is my new set!

For the lids, I spray painted them black and then mod podged a piece of scrapbook paper to the lid.

I did some glass etching with my silhouette of the spice names. They turned out a little smaller than I would have liked, but its all good.

Ice Cream Cake How To

This one simple idea has brought my husband more joy on his birthday than anything else!
Making an ice cream cake is so simple, anyone can do it!

What you will need:
-one cake mix
-one box of ice cream
-one lg. tub of cool whip
-crushed candy to top
-two 9x9 round pans
-saran wrap

(My combo was: Butter Pecan cake, Fried Ice Cream flavored ice cream, and Butterfingers to top).

*DISCLAIMER: The hubby conveniently decided to come home early as I was making this cake for him (and for this tute). My ice cream is a little more "melty" than yours will be since I couldn't freeze it long enough.

1. Bake one (or two, depending on how many layers you want) 9 inch round cakes. Place them on the freezer until solid. Remove from pan and return cake to freezer.

2. Wash out pan(s). Line with saran wrap. Smash partially defrosted ice cream into the pan. Cover with saran wrap and place in freezer until solid.

3. This part will totally look like crap, but once you've frosted the whole thing in cool whip, it will be beautiful. Once ice cream is frozen solid (I know, mine is melting, like I said) , remove saran wrap and start layering your cake and ice cream. (I am a fan of the four layered ice cream cakes)!

4. Frost the whole thing (FAST) and sprinkle with crushed candy!

Sweet and Spicy Italian Pizza

Ok, I totally made up this pizza recipe and it turned out SUPER YUMMY!

Pizza Crust Recipe

2T. cornmeal
2 1/2 c. flour
1 pkg. yeast
1t. salt
1 c. very warm water
2 T. liquid shortening (I just used canola oil)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sprinkle large cookie sheet with cornmeal. Pour water into large mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast over water; let sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth. Stir in shortening, 1 cup flour, and salt. Mix until almost smooth. Gradually add in the rest of the flour to make firm dough. Cover; let rest 15 minutes. Press into prepared pan. Prick dough with fork all over:

Here's the best part: Adding delicious toppings...

sweet italian sausage, salami slices, crumbled bacon, onion slices, olives, whole garlic cloves (roasted in a pan on the stove first). Use alfredo sauce with a hint of cayenne and chili powder if you'd like the spiciness. Sprinkle entire pizza with shredded mozzarella cheese.

DIY Planner: Franklin Covey

So I have to say I'm pretty proud of this idea....

The other day my brother told me that he bought a refill pack of Franklin Covey planner paper. He said the actual planner covers were super expensive, so naturally....
I got my craft on....

This costed me nothing since I had everything on hand and I reused some things I had around the house.

What you will need:
-vinyl backing of an old notebook (2)
-metal rings (Staples)
-elastic band
-needle and thread

1. This is the Franklin Covey paper that he bought.

2. Cut out the vinyl backing of your notebook using the planner paper as a measurement. I just traced around it.

2. My front and back (ugly colors, I know, but it's for a guy :)

3. I decided to just punch three holes in the cover. I figured seven would be way too many dangle-y metal rings. This looks much better.

4. To bling it up a little more, I sewed on an elastic to make a snappy thing to hold the planner closed.

 The finished product
:)
