Hair Bow Holder

I know there are, like, a ba-zillion bow holder tutorials online...but I haven't had my say in the matter...so here's mine  ;)

What you will need:
-Picture frame ($2)
-Two colors of 1" (at least) ribbon ($2)
-hot glue or staple gun
-Spray paint

1. I got this ugly piece of garbage at a local thrift store...
I had a vision of it's true calling in life.

2. I took all the nasty junk that was inside of it, including the glass, all out.
Using a can of white spray paint, I went over it with a single coat. I wanted to give it a fresh clean look, but I also wanted to keep some rustic character.

3. I added two colors of ribbon by hot gluing them to the back of the frame. I would recommend a staple gun, that's just not a luxury I have yet :)

That's it! Pretty simple.

Baby Hair Flower/Bows

I've been DYING to make some crafts for my lil baby girl who currently still resides in my womb. So I went on a hair bow making craze ...

*A few you can find from my tie headband tutorial.
*A few are taken from the concept I used in making the ribbon earrings.
*The pink gerber daisy also has a tutorial.
* I also have a lil tute on making singed flowers.

And this is how I made the red felt flower.

1. Cut out five one inch circles from a piece of felt.

2. Pinch one side together and sew through about a 1/4" into the pedal. You will just keep attaching each pedal by pinching and sewing them together.

3. Pull tight and add an embellishment in the middle if you wish. It actually looks cute without one too.

 4. Put a circle piece of felt with a hairclip sewn to it, hotglued to the back of the flower to stick in your hair. Read more

Singed Flowers

I have been dying to make these since I first saw the instructions at Mrs. Priss! So this is my version of how to do it! I made mine from an old polyester shirt that had a broken zipper. Yea for recycling, reusing, and re-purposing!

 What you will need:
-Lightweight polyester-type fabric
-Pearls
-matches
-scissors
-needle and thread

(I had all of these things on had, so for me, this craft was FREE!)

1. The first step is going to be to cut out several circles of varying sizes. They don't have to be perfect, in fact, I think it makes the fabric look more like flowers if they're a little less circle-like:)

2. Carefully burn the edges of the fabric just enough to singe the edges and slightly curl the edges.

3. Next, layer the fabric pieces from largest to smallest and sew together with the embellishments in the center.

You can either attach a hair clip to your flowers or a head band. (I made this headband with the fabric from the edge of the shirt and some elastic).

THERE YOU HAVE IT!

T-shirt Headband

I made this headband out of 1"x15" strips from a white t-shirt that I never wear!

 What you need:
-5   1"x15"  strips of a white t-shirt
-6  small beads
-needle and thread

I just braided three peices together and then stitches up the ends so it stays braided.

For the flowers, I twisted two strips and then rolled them up to make flowers! I put a few beads to embellish them and give them a little color.

Adult Crocheted Flower Headband!

Yes, I know, I already posted a crocheted headband earlier but this one is so chic I had to post it! Vanessa and I didn't make this one. I was actually just checking out my friend Christina's family blog and I saw that her mom made some of these for her and her sister. I don't know how to do it or I would have made my own. I have to get the instructions and if I do, I will post them!!

Tie Headband

For this project, you will need:

-1 tie (Thrift Store: $2 )
- Scizzors
-Embellishment for middle of your flower ( 12/$2 )
-Hot glue gun for embellishment, or sewing machine
-6 or more inches of elastic

1. Cut the skinny part of the tie for your headband. I cut about 16 inches.

 2. Fold over the edge where you cut the tie and attach two elastic bands about 3 or more inches. You'll have to check to see how it fits on your head. Pin your elastic band to the edge.

 3. Using your sewing machine or hand stitching, attach the elastic bands to your tie.

4. Cut open the largest part of the tie and spread it out.

 5. Place a bowl or something about that size on the tie to trace a circle for your flower. Cut out the circle. (It doesn't have the be perfect).

 6. Sew about 1/8 - 1/4 inch from the edge of the circle making stitches about 1/2 inch long. Sew all the way around.

 7. Start pulling the thread along the way to bunch up the material.

 8. Once you've sewn all the way around, pull the thread tight and tie it off so you have a flower that looks something like this.

 9. I sewed my little jewel on the middle of my flower and to the tie headband. You can also hot glue your embellishment onto the flower and headband.

 THAT'S IT! you're
done!

How To Make Hair Flowers!

These flowers are totally in style now! There is no reason why you should have to pay $4+ to be wearing them!

Here's what you will need
-Bunch of fake gerber daisies (mine came with 7) $2.99 (Sale at JoAnne's)
-Jewels $1.99
-Hair Clips $1
-Hot glue gun

1. The first thing you want to do is pull the flower from the stem. Then take out the front and back of the middle part of the flower.

2. The flower usually comes in a few layers, so pull the layers apart from each other.

3. Then put the flower back together with hot glue.

4. Glue a jewel to the very middle of the flower.

5. Glue a hair clip to the middle of the flower in the back.

6. It's that easy (and inexpensive)!

Ribbon Hair Flowers

We came up with this idea to make ribbon flowers to attach to hair clips or to place on a headband.

Here's our tutorial!

The first thing you will want to do is cut five strips of ribbon about 2.5 to 3 inches long each.

Then, you will fold each of those peices so the two ends meet, making individual pedals.

After that, you will glue each pedal together at the point where the ends meet to make the complete flower.

Your flower should look something like this.

Next you can add more color and depth to your flower by making a smaller flower and gluing it inside the larger one.

Place a button, bead, or any other type of embellishment in the middle.
Then if you want to use it for a hair accessory, glue a clip or headband to the back.

Here is an example of one of my baby headbands with the flowers...
