Tulle Pomander Tutorial

Here is the other tutorial for Lily's nursery pomanders...
Plan a lot of time for this craft--4 hours-ish.

What you will need:
-3-4 inch styrofoam ball ($3)
-about 6 yards of tulle ($.97/ yard)
-glue (I used elmers)
-pencil
-scissors

1. The first thing you will do is cut your tulle into four inch squares. To make this process go quickly, fold your tulle over several times so you can cut many layers at one time.

2. Take two pieces at a time and put glue in the center of the square. Stick into you styrofoam ball with a pencil or other sharp object. Do this all over the ball leaving only about 1/2 inch between each hole.

3. Very simple, but time consuming. I think it's totally worth it once you see how it turns out though!

Tissue Paper Rose Pomander: Tutorial

Pomanders (or "kissing ball", as they are sometimes called) can add a unique decorative touch to any living space. The great part is, they are fairly inexpensive to make!

What you will need:
-styrofoam ball ($3--or $1.50 with your craft store's half off coupon!)
-about five sheets of tissue paper
-hot glue gun
-scissors
-optional: embellishments, e.g. pearls

*I started to spray paint my styrofoam ball white...you don't need to do this...it won't come out white.*

1. Cut a strip of tissue paper about 2-3 inches wide. (I chose to make varying sizes of roses so you can cut the 2-3 inch wide paper in half width-wise to do this).

2. Fold 2-3 times length wise.

3. Begin to roll that folded piece of paper between your fingers as you also roll it into a spiral. You can hot glue the rows together at this point if you wish.

3. Hot glue the surface of your styrofoam ball and place the tissue rose on the ball.

It will start to look like this...
And you can add little embellishments like I did with the pearls if you choose.

Lily's Lavender Nursery

We are back from the hospital with a fresh baby girl to show off!

This is her nursery that I have been working on over the last few weeks! It could still use a few more things but I'm ok with what we have for now.

Over the next few days I will be posting tutorials for the pomanders (kissing balls).

I added some little purple flowers on the inside of the poofy parts.

Bedroom Vanity Redo

I got this bedroom vanity for $48 on Amazon with $40 shipping. Not bad. The only problem is the upholstery on the stool--U-G-L-Y.

So I went ahead and chose a fabric to my liking and reupholstered it myself.

Much better.

And, since I had a ton of extra fabric, I made a curling iron holder that hooks to the side!

Personalized Lighted Mirror

As you can tell, I'm getting SUPER excited for my little girl to come! Not like she's going to need or care about having this mirror with her name on it...but it will make for a cute decoration.

What you will need:
-Vinyl letters with a name (I used my silhouette)
-Mirror
-Set of white christmas lights
-fake flowers
-strong, mailing tape

1. Remove the middle plastic part of each flower and insert a single light. Continue this until the strand can go around your mirror as much as you need it to. Tape the lights to the back of the mirror.

2. Add your vinyl lettering to the mirror ensuring the name is leveled.
