Accent Gem Rings

I got some of these little glass "flat marbles" as I call them (I guess they're really "accent gems"), at the dollar store. You can get just clear, or you can get a mix of colors. I got the one with colors. But the clear ones did seem more versatile, for sure.

What you will need:

-rings with a flat top (so you can glue the gem on)

-accent gems

-paper, such as scrapbook paper or newspaper

-super glue (you can use glass glaze too)

1. Apply your glue to the back of your accent gem, lay a peice of decorative paper on so pattern is touching the glue.

2. After that dries, apply glue to the entire back of the paper, (this will help water proof it), and then stick your ring on!

I loved the newspaper ring! I used a tan colored marble to add an antique look.

For the rose ring, I used a light pink marble.

Earring to Necklace Tutorial

Can you believe I used to wear these earrings? I mean they are cute. But if I wore earrings like this all the time I would have nasty saggy old lady ears by the time I'm thirty!

BUT!

Instead of getting rid of them...

I used one of them to make a necklace!
((Ok, don't judge my pasty white skin).

I got the super long chain from Michael's for like three bucks and that was all that I had to buy!

Crochet Flower Hairclip/Brooch

I learned to crochet this flower from Art of Crochet by Teresa. She has amazing video tutorials.

I put a hair clip as well as a safety pin on the back so this flower can be worn has a hair accessory as well as brooch.

Necklace Holder

Here is a simple tutorial on how to make a necklace holder. Very useful if your necklace are sitting in a tupperware container getting tangled (like mine!).

What you will need:

- Peice of wood

-nails

-spraypaint for nails

-paint for wood

-ribbon

-coordinating buttons or flat bead

-hot glue

PS This project cost me a grand total of $3! Most of the stuff I just had on hand!

1. Sand your wood edges and paint the wood. I used acrylic paint and then added a coat of spray lacquer. Spray paint the nails holding the pointy side (since that part won't be seen).

2. After your wood dries, hot glue your ribbon to the back of your board.

3. Nail your nails in and spaced evenly apart. Hot glue your buttons or beads to the top of each nail.

Comic Strip Bracelet

This is an awesome kids craft or a craft you could make for a child!

What you will need:

-sunday newspaper comics section

-about 10 small beads, various colors (small bracelet)

-stretchy jewelery cord

-Mod Podge

- Scissors

1. First you will need to cut about 10 strips of newspaper from the comic section. They should be about 4"x1/2". A little hint: if you look for an image that you would like to have on your bead, (ex. Garfield's face or letters from a comic title) cut that image out at the very end of your strip of paper. This way, it will be on the outside of you bead.

2. Start rolling up your strips of paper with the image you want to show on the outside. Glue the last inch down and then Mod Podge the whole bead.

3. Wait about 20 minutes for your beads to dry and then string them on your cord alternating them with colorful beads! Tie it off with a lobster clasp or other jewelery fastener.

Recycled Bracelet

Nicholette here...

At first glance you don't really see what it's made of so take a good look....

It's made from soda tabs! I got this idea from my awesome friends Jenny and Derek, now let me show you how!

What you will need:

-at least 20 tabs from soda cans

-2 pieces of at least 12 inches of stretchy cord

Just a heads up:

You are going to have two layers of tabs. The bottom layer:

And the top layer:

1. Now that you kind of understand the basic skeleton...

Start by threading each piece of cord through a tab right side up, then cross them through another tab.

2. These two tabs will be the front of your bracelet. Flip them over and thread all four ends through one tab facing the opposite direction, like so...

3. Keep your bracelet where it is and thread two more tabs on either side of the one on top. Flip it back to front side and it should look like this.

4. Add another front tab by crossing the thread through.

It may be easier for you to just look at the finished project and figure it out. That's what I had to do!

DIY Beaded Watches

Beaded watches are THE thing right now and for us craft crazed people, there's no reason to pay $30 to be a proud owner. Here are a couple of the watches I have made using the same watch face. A really sweet way to get a watch face for cheap is to get one at a craft store like Michael's or Robert's with a coupon from the sunday paper. They come out to be about $6. Not bad.

Here are a couple of the watches I have made using the same watch face:

All you need to make one:

-Stretchy cord, $1.50 (w/ coupon from sunday paper)

-Random beads, roughly $5

-Watchface $6 (w/coupon from sunday ads)
-2 spacers (you can see one in the pic above)
-4 lobster clasps

-Superglue, or nail glue

To start your beaded watch: use one long piece of cord and start threading with two of your lobster clasps and two small beads to separate them. Alternate threading beads on each side strategically placing two spacers somewhere in there. I like placing the beads on randomly. Then you'll end with the two lobster claws on one side of the cord. Pull the cord tight and tie a square knot. It should suck under the first bead on your band. It's as easy as that!

Pearls and Ribbon Bracelet

Here is a super easy project to class up some fat pearls to make a bracelet!

What you will need:

-one strand of fat pearls ($2.99)

-pattered ribbon ($1.00)

-needle and thread

1. First step is to start with a needle and thread about 6 or more inches from the end of your ribbon. You will want the extra ribbon to fasten the bracelet on with a bow.

2. Start threading the needle through the very center of the ribbon. You will then put your first pearl on once the needle is pulled through the patterned side of the ribbon.

3. Continue to thread the pearls on either side of the ribbon. Be sure to keep the needle in the center of the ribbon with each stitch.

4. Your bracelet should start to look like this...

5. Tie a bow at the end and you have a very fashionable bracelet!

Layered Button Bracelet

This would make a great teen craft, (or an adult one if you're like me:).

What you will need:

-assortment of buttons (I used 24), same size $1.50 for like a billion/walmart

-Industrial strength thread, or some sort of jewelery string

1. Cut 2 strings to about 15 inches and thread through a button like so...

2. Each additional button should face the opposite direction as the previous button.

3. Push the buttons together as you go.

4. Your bracelet should look layered like this.

5. When you finish, create a loop at one end to hook over the last button on the other end. (Or you could use any sort of jewelery latch to finish it off).
