A Spooky Halloween Wreath

        I found a SUPER cool wreath from Our Best Bites that inspired me to make myself a new Halloween wreath!

 I didn't do a picture tutorial on it, mostly because you can head over to Our Best Bites for some really great instructions, and then just add embellishments that you like. But here are some basic instructions:

What you will need:

-Small Wreath form (I used pipe insulation from home depot $1)

-Spool of 50 yards of black tulle (bridal section at Joannes)

-Embellishments (I did flowers and feathers)

-Hot glue and scissors

1. If you're using pipe insulation from Home Depot, cut it to make a small wreath form and duct tape together.

2. Start cutting your strips of tulle using one as a pattern for the rest. You want all the tulle pieces to be fairy close in length. Mine were about 12 inches long.

3. Start tying your tulle pieces onto your wreath form using just a regular old knot, pushing tulle together as you go. 

4. Hot glue your fun embellishments to the wreath. I used feathers, ribbon flowers, and silk flowers (the white ones I spray painted BLACK!

Simple Initial Wreath

This initial wreath was super easy to make, and yet it adds so much more joy to my boring white front door! And I have to say I just love the yellow/gray/white combo for a wreath...

What you will need:

-wreath

-spray paint (gray)

-initial letter

-one fabric quarter

-two sizes of pearls for embellishing flowers.

-18 inches of sheer ribbon

1. Spray paint your wreath. Let dry.

2. Wrap a long peice of torn fabric about two inches around your initial, hot glueing on the back as you go.

3. Make rolled fabric flowers and add small and larger pearl embellishments. Hot glue onto your wreath.

4. Hang initial with a peice of sheer ribbon.

Valentines Wreath

I recently decided that I hated my old Valentines Wreath (which is why you will see the post about it deleted :)

So I actually used the same wreath and transformed it into something that I actually kinda like!

 

I love the little banners. They're so teeny! I cut the little letters out by hand with my elmer's precision scissors and it was actually quite simple. And the great part about this wreath is the cost: with a craft store coupon, it should only cost about $3.50 - $4!

Fall Wreath

I decided that my naked door needed some autumn lovin' this year. So I got together with my friend Jenny (who is going to soon by joining me here on Craft Envy), and we made some fun little wreaths.

What you will need:

~ One styrofoam wreath

~12 yards of ribbon

~Pumpkin wooden cut outs (Hobby Lobby)

~various sizes of wood circles (also Hobby Lobby)

~scrapbook paper in autumn colors
~straight pins
~Mod Podge

1. I apologize for not taking pictures of this process along the way. First you will Mod Podge your scrapbook paper to all your wooden shapes and let it dry.

2. Once Mod Podge process is complete, paper can be cut from the wooden pieces.

3. Wrap ribbon around the styrofoam wreath and secure down with straight pins.

4. Hot glue your pieces of wood down to the ribbon wrapped wreath.

Scrapbook Paper Wreath Tutorial

My friend and I got together the other day to make a fun summer time wreath...completely out of paper. Even the wreath ring is made of paper. The whole thing only costed a mere $3 to make!

 What you will need:

-12 sheets of 12x12 scrapbook paper

-4 paper plates (or one or two really thick ones)

-hot glue

-something to that will cut a circle out (looks like a protractor)

-10" string

 1. Cut the inside of your paper plates out.

 2. Glue the outside rims of your paper plates together. Allow to dry.

3 .Tie your string around the wreath ring.

 3. Start hot gluing your paper on like this...

You may want to mark where the paper goes. Space 12 marks evenly (like a clock).

 4. I taped where the papers meet on the outside just to keep everything in place better.

That's all there is to it! And it's HUGE!

I don't have any wall decor in my lil' boy's play area, so this bright wreath adds lots of cheer to the dungeon area!

Fabric Flower Wreath

This kinda seems like a Valentines wreath to me, I must have been in a lovey dovey mood when I made it
..

What you will need: 

-10 strips of fabric 1.5"x 15 " each

-piece of fabric to cover the wreath

-black ribbon

hot glue

1. Start by cutting or tearing strips of fabric out for your flowers.

2. Twist the fabric as you roll it up for the flowers. This will make them more believable.

3. Roll up the fabric keeping the twists in the fabric.

4. Your flowers should start to look like this. Continue to make 10 of these.

5. Cover your styrofoam wreath with fabric leaving loose folds to give an elegant look.

6. Wrap some black ribbon around the wreath, leaving the folds in the fabric.

7. Hot glue your flowers on tightly together. Place a bow above the flowers!

Now you have a "Valentines in August Wreath"!

Monogram and Metal Wreath

I found this metal...thingy at a thrift store around January and it's just been sitting around since. The other day I was at Rod Works and they had vinyl monogram letters and THE VISION came!

 This was literally a five minute craft...

I stuck the vinyl on the wall put a ribbon on my hunk a metal and nailed it to the wall.

Voila!

Stone Wreath

Here's a fun project for a nice spring looking wreath! The only wreath I have is a christmas one, so I've been dying to make this! Plus!...I only spent $4.70  for this wreath!

What you will need:

-foam wreath circle ($1--go to the dollar store)

-2 bags of flat stones or marbles (again, dollar store) 

-2 colors of ribbon

-some spring-like flowers or berries

-acrylic paint or spray paint 

-hot glue gun  

1. First step is to paint your wreath ring the same color as the stones you are using. I chose white stones so I painted my wreath white. I used acrylic paint, but maybe spray paint would work better???

2. Start hot gluing your stones on as close together as possible. This part takes awhile but be patient!

3. Eventually your wreath will look like this....I chose not to cover my whole wreath in stones because I wanted room for some colorful embellishments.

4. Hot glue your flowers or berries to the foam part of the wreath.

5. Wrap the still exposed foam part with one color of ribbon until the foam is covered up. Then take a skinnier ribbon of a different color and do a criss-cross pattern starting from the bottom and going up.

Saturday Spotlights! - Wreaths

I just love, love, love wreaths, and I love how creative you all are out there in blog land!  Here are just a few of my favorites:

Paper wreath made with loops out of scrapbook paper.  So cute!  This was made by Razzle Dazzle Crafting.

She used it as a Christmas wreath, but I'm sure depending on the color paper you chose, it can be an any time wreath.  I love it!

This wreath made me LOL!  Isn't that the craziest thing?  It's a monster wreath for halloween!  I know we're waaaay too early for Halloween, but I couldn't pass this up!  You can find the tutorial here.  I am so making one of these this year!

I am so inspired by this wreath!!!  This is made with toilet paper rolls!  I LOVE a good recycling project, those are my all time favorites.  You can find the tutorial at Alisa Burke.  Just beautiful!

One more by Alysa Burke.  This might be my favorite wreath in a long time.  I really really really want one!!! It just makes you smile right away!  Here's the tutorial!

Last but definitely not least, this awesome wreath made of newspaper stars!  I found the wreath at Linaloo.  She actually directs us to this video tutorial of how you make the stars, which is found here.  I get so excited about recycling projects, I can hear my newspapers calling me from the garage and saying:  "fold me into stars!!!"

Adorable Valentine's Wreath

So I have this thing about wreaths, they just call to me!  I saw this wreath by Glue Guns and Spatulas, and I loved it, because it uses a wire hanger!  Who doesn't have a bunch of wire hangers sitting around the house?

I am SOOOO envious of this wreath!!!

I really cannot stop thinking about this wonderful wreath created by Living with Lindsay. I love it so much, and I can't wait to make myself a couple to put over my fireplace.

Isn't it the most clever idea? It's made out of book pages. I love it!
