Thanks for Sharing!

Saturday Spotlights #6 was awesome!  I love seeing all the great ideas you all have out there!  Lately our creative juices are occupied with huge projects, Nicholette just moved in to her first home!  Yay Nicholette!  She's doing some amazing remodeling, and of course she's taking pictures along the way to share with all of us.  I can't wait to see them myself!  As for me, I'm working on a big crocheting project, I'm half way done with it, I can't wait to show you guys!

Now it's time to feature some of the amazing projects you posted this weekend!  Here we go:

Paper quilling.  A new concept for me, but I am amazed at what Shahana can do with strips of paper!  So cute!

This quilt was made from her little girl's baby clothes!  Isn't this adorable?  Thanks for sharing, Camille.

Don't these look good enough to eat?  Well don't!  They're made of Salt dough!  Too much fun!

I love Cheryl's skirt!  Isn't it so cute?  I want to make myself some girly skirts too.  Better get to work!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents with us, I loved it all! Don't forget to grab a featured button if you've been featured here! ;)   Please join us again next Saturday!

Fabulous Friends Wednesday - Kimm from Reinvented!

Hello again, and welcome to another FABULOUS FRIENDS WEDNESDAY!  We are thrilled to have with us Kimm from Reinvented!  I first found her blog while looking for linky parties, and I've been following ever since.  I LOVE her eye for transformation!  Make sure you stop by and check out her blog, I just know you'll love it as much as we do!

Hello fans of Craft Envy!  I am thrilled to be guest posting today.  Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Kimm and my blog is called REINVENTED.  My passion in life, my obsession, if you will, is sharing Home Decor Ideas for Real People.  With Real Stuff.  And Real Budgets.
You see, I like to decorate.  And REdecorate.  And REdecorate again.  I like to tweak styles, change colors and rearrange furniture.  If I spent lots of money every time I wanted a change, I'd be broke.  And single, probably.  To save money, I decorate with garage sale treasures, flea market finds, and other people's junk.
I love classic designs, so today I'm going to share with you my MAD LOVE for anything monogrammed.  Sure, I love monogrammed pillows and hankies, but I've been known to add my initials in some unexpected places.
Like my front door. (a paper mache B from the craft store)
And my bedroom wall (a painted thrift store wooden plaque)

I even monogramed my mantle.  Over and over and over again.
I monogramed an old clay pot as a gift for a friend.
I know, I know, I had a LITTLE problem with letters.  I even thought the other day that I should look for MORE.  One can never have too many "B"s.
Thanks to the fabulous ladies of Craft Envy for having me today!  Come by to visit me at REINVENTED any time, and be sure to join us every Tuesday for TRASH TO TREASURE TUESDAY, a weekly linky party!

Fabulous Friends Wednesday - Jamie from C.R.A.F.T.

Hey there friends, welcome to another FABULOUS FRIENDS WEDNESDAY!   I am thrilled to welcome Jamie from C.R.A.F.T.  She has the most awesome blog!  Her ideas are wonderful you need to check it out! Jamie is sharing with us today the craft that started it all!  Craft #1!  I'm so excited to share it with you.  Thanks for sharing your talents Jamie!

Hi everyone! I'm Jamie @ C.R.A.F.T.[C.R.A.F.T. stands for: creating really awesome free things ]

I am so excited to be guest blogging today @ Craft Envy for Fabulous Friends Wednesday! I am lovin' the flower headbands in their Etsy store!

I am going to share my very first C.R.A.F.T. post today :)

C.R.A.F.T. #1: Recycled Canvas Art

Materials: Old Canvas, Acrylic Paint, one brush, wall decals (IKEA has great ones)
1: Paint entire canvas a solid brown and let dry...I used an old canvas that I had painted for my college apartment. So, I simply repainted the entire canvas brown... most canvases, in my opinion, can be painted over many, many times.

2: Squirt a few blobs of gold, beige, orange, and black and blend using the same brush :) [I even let my boyfriend help me blend the paint] This can be a family project.  I was not going for perfection or precision... Let your inner artist come out and play! You have to blend while the paint is wet. If you mess up, just repaint your base color and try again! No big deal!

3: The green branches are wall decals from IKEA. I think the package cost about $10.00. So hang up the canvas and stick on the decals.

Simple enough right :)
Happy Wednesday Everyone! Please come check out C.R.A.F.T. for more more fun things!

Stencil Monogrammed Book Shelf

I got this little kid's bookshelf thing from my mom, who got it for free from some lady! I thought it definitely needed something....and I was so excited about this when I finished it! I didn't know if it would turn out but really, it turned out way better than I expected! This was a way inexpensive form of creating a monogram.

What you will need:
-Printout on cardstock of your letter
-Acrylic paint
-brush
-xacto knife

1. First, you need to clean your surface really well so that it can be ready for paint.

2. Print out a letter of your choice in any font and print it out. Using your Xacto knife, cut around the edges of the letter to create a stencil (my letter had a shadow behind it for some reason, just ignore it).

3. Start painting with acrylic paint until you have the letter filled in. Take the stencil off and do some touch-ups!

Easy and inexpensive monogram, gotta love it.

I love this idea from Jamie at C.R.A.F.T.  I'm scrapbooking challenged, and I'm also too cheap to buy all the stuff that would make scrapbooking fun, but this idea rocks my world! Check this out!

Fabulous Friends Wednesday - Summer from Sumo's Sweet Stuff

Hello friends, and welcome to another FABULOUS FRIENDS WEDNESDAY!!! We are thrilled and honored to welcome Summer from Sumo's Sweet Stuff!  She has the cutest, greatest ideas, you need to stop by and check them out!  Thanks for sharing your talents Summer!

Hello Craft Envy readers!

I'm so excited to be guest posting over here today.

I'm Sumo, from Sumo's Sweet Stuff!

Sumo's Sweet Stuff

My real name is Summer, but my husband nicknamed me Sumo when we were dating. (Should I be offended?) Now he's got all of my family, as well as lots of our friends, calling me Sumo. I think Aunt Sumo sounds pretty great, don't you? I live in Utah with my husband, my beautiful 19 month old daughter, and my equally beautiful one month old!

Growing up, I never used to be all that domestic or crafty, so I think no one is more surprised than my mom at how I've ended up where I am today! I started Sumo's Sweet Stuff last May as a place to keep some of my crafting projects so that my personal blog wasn't overrun with them. Somehow, that developed into a place to host giveaways, share tutorials, share recipes, and feature fellow bloggers' ideas and blogs! I also use my blog to promote my etsy shop, so if you're ever in the market for some baby girl accessories, come on over! Every Monday is Market Yourself Monday, where you can link up your latest projects, and visit other blogs to get some inspiration!
Sumo Sweet Stuff

Here's a little peek at some of the things you can find on my blog:

But let's get down to business now! Here is my fun tutorial for you - I hope you like it!
I saw these kinds of headbands in a local fabric store a week or so ago, and just knew I could make them myself! They are super easy, and super cute! What a great combo!

What you need:

- fabric
- interfacing
- elastic
- sewing machine/accessories
- bling!

I started off by making a template of how I wanted the headband to be. These are for my one month old, so I measured her head. Depending on who yours are for, you'll need to adjust accordingly. I made two templates because I knew I was going to layer two kinds of fabric.

Cut out your fabric using the template(s).

I wanted my edges messy, so I frayed them a bit.

Next you'll want to cut a piece of interfacing a bit smaller than your template and iron it on to the wrong side of your fabric.

Now, for my first headband, I sewed on the smaller piece to the top of the bigger piece first. When I had to go sew on the bottom of the headband, also a bigger piece, it was tricky to do so without sewing down the edges of my smaller piece. I'd recommend sewing your bigger pieces together first!

When you do sew your big pieces together, make sure that you are adding in your elastic pieces and sewing them down well. I went over the places where the elastic was a few times.

Next I cut out four circles.

Then I hot glued them into these little v-shapes.

I cut a small circle of felt, and glued the v-shapes around it. Of course, you'll want to add some bling! (You can of course put any type of flower on to the headband, or just leave it plain if you like!)

Then I hot glued it onto the headband.

Done!

Now put them on the cutest little girls you can find, and you've got yourself some new accessories!

Here are a few other ones that I have made so far.

Thanks to Nicholette and Vanessa for having me today! Hope to see some of you over at my Sumo's Sweet Stuff!
