Fabric Flowers put to good use!

This mother's day I got the cutest little tote bag that my grandmother made, she embellished it with adorable fabric flowers!!!

Isn't this sooo cute?  I love how adorable this turned out.

These flowers are just so bright and colorful!  Love it!

This weekend was also my daughter's birthday, she's 5 now.  I can't believe how fast everything has been!  Anyway, my awesome grandma did it again, she made my little girl this:

It's a doll made out of little fabric flowers all stacked up together!  Too cute.  Needless to say, I'm having her teach me how to make these, so be on the look out for a tutorial soon.

Pirate Bedroom Sign

Here's the sign I made for my little boy's bedroom!

What you will need:

-Piece of mosaic wood (3D edging) Micheals $1.69

-wood letters (for the name) Dollar Store

-Parrot (already finished) Michael's $.59

-Blackmore font print out 

I didn't take pictures of the process since I ended up redoing it a couple times.

Fabulous Friends Wednesday - Meet NieNie

This post is going to be a little different today.  I hope this is more inspirational than anything else.  Some of you may have heard about Stephanie Nielson, or NieNie.  She writes the blog NieNie Dialogues.  I have recently become aware of her story, and let me tell you, I have a new hero!  You should check out her blog when you need to read something uplifting.

Since we are so close to Mother's Day, I thought I'd share with you this little video of NieNie's.  She made me realize what a beautiful privilege it is to be a mother.  What a blessing it is to be able to cherish these little ones sent to us by God.  It made me want to be a better mother.

Photo Letters

One of my friends got married this past weekend and so this was the present I made. Their last name is "Nava" so that's what I spelled out. I'm sure most of you have seen these around. You can buy a frame and all the letters for your last name (or whatever you want to spell) for anywhere from 40-80 bucks. Kinda steep. So here's what I did...

1. I bought a frame at Michael's that you're supposed to put a dollar bill in (weird, I know). Nonetheless, I got it for five bucks.
2. I used my xacto knife to make the width a bit longer.
3. I went outside and took pictures of things that looks like the letters and had them developed.
4. For a more finished look, I added some strips of cardstock inbetween the letters.

This fabric garden that Cheryl made at Sew Can Do is just too much fun!  My girls would play with this for hours, it's educational, and let's face it... it's so CUTE!

This headboard turned coat rack from Alix at Shadywood Chic is just gorgeous!  Alix, what a talent!
