RL Dress Makeover

There is nothing as satisfying as turning something that you never use/wear into something new and fun! That's the best kind of craft project!

Remember these...

The Ralph Lauren Polo Dresses...kinda out of style now. SO. Since I never wear mine anymore, I decided to be thrifty/crafty and change it into this...

What I used...
Ralph Lauren Dress
Two old t-shirts
Sewing machine and thread

Everything I used was on hand so for me, this project was FREE!

1. So the first thing you need to know how to do is to make a ruffle. Cut strips of fabric for the bottom of the dress and the collar. Then sew down the middle and pull one of the threads until it's as ruffly as you like it!

2. Sew the ruffles on the dress. You can pin it but I didn't, it was easy enough without pins.
I cut the collar off of the dress, it didn't match to well with the ruffles!

3. I made a two layer flower like the ribbon earrings (see that tutorial for technique). Then I sewed a little dainty pearl right smack in the middle. I sewed this over the RL flag logo on the front of the dress.
So that's pretty much it, I just made it all up as I went. I'm still wondering if I want to so some more to it but I guess we'll see!
Hope you like it, I kinda do ;)

  6. This is awesome. I had a few of these dresses but got rid of them when they went a bit out of style. Now I wish I had them to transform.

I wanted to let you know that I featured the tie headband on my blog. I love it! I'm going to raid my husband's closet for some old ties I can use.
